Abraham Lincoln (1809-65, 16th President of the USA): signature on military Appointment of George A.Mursick to Assistant Surgeon of Volunteers (9th Oct.1863). Partially printed document on vellum with embossed Presidential seal, also signed by Edwin M.Stanton (Secretary of war), window mounted, framed and glazed, overall 49 x 67 cm. Signature faded, though attractive and rare. Dr.Mursick was quickly promoted to Surgeon in charge of United States army General Hospital at Duvall's Cliff, Arkansas. He was present at many noted civil war battles.
