A Chinese polychrome moon vase, late Qing Dynasty, late 19th to early 20th century, of typical cushion form with applied chilong handles and three cylindrical spouts, decorated in a famille rose palette with auspicious figures and their attributes with cranes, ruyi and fire clouds within two large roundels, surrounded by continuous patterns of flora, peaches, dragons and shou medallions; bearing underglaze Qianlong characters underside. Height 41 cm

During the Ming Dynasty, China experienced a period of relative stability and prosperity. The government was centralized and bureaucratic, with the emperor at the top of the hierarchy. The Ming Dynasty is known for its cultural achievements, including the development of porcelain, the invention of movable type printing, and the construction of the Great Wall of China.
