A set of four Chinese elm chairs, late Qing Dynasty, late 19th to early 20th century, the square back chairs with shaped cresting rails above broad central splats variously decorated with low relief foliate and symbolic carving, the plank seats with ornate pierced and shaped aprons to square form legs united by box stretchers. Height 106 cm. Width 49.5 cm. Depth 38 cm

The Ming Dynasty is known for its cultural achievements, including the development of porcelain, the invention of movable type printing, and the construction of the Great Wall of China.
