A Victor Greenaway wood fired stoneware pot and plate, later 20th century, the oviform pot tapering to a small circular foot with a complementary aperture to the top, in mottled and flecked orange and pale terracotta colours, embellished to the collar and rim with applied gold colour, the plate conforming, with artist's impressed stamps to all; Vic Greenway, b.1947, is represented at the ANG, NGV, QAG, AGWA and other private and collecting institutions. Pot height 19.5 cm. Bowl diameter: 21.5 cm

  • Terracotta - Terracotta is lightly fired earthenware, red or reddish-brown in colour, used in ancient times. Fired at higher temperatures terracotta was used in the nineteenth century for decorative vases and similar objects, but rarely for utilitarian goods. Other uses for terracotta include roofing tiles, garden pots and ornaments. Glazed terracotta is known as faience.
