Hemara Hemara is a New Zealand potter of M?ori descent. He was born in 1938 in Auckland, and began his pottery career in 1963. He has worked in a variety of styles, including functional pottery, decorative pottery, and M?ori-inspired pottery. His work is known for its bold colors and shapes, and its use of M?ori motifs. Hemara has won numerous awards for his pottery, including the Portage Ceramic Award in 1978 and 1980. He has also exhibited his work in solo and group exhibitions throughout New Zealand and Australia. Hemara is a member of the New Zealand Potters' Association and the Titirangi Pottery Club. He is also a past president of the New Zealand M?ori Arts and Crafts Institute. Hemara is still actively working as a potter, and his work is held in collections around the world.
